Hi! We've renamed ScraperWiki.
The product is now QuickCode and the company is The Sensible Code Company.

Blog

Sometimes you only need HTML / Javascript

Sometimes Julian adds simple things to ScraperWiki, and hardly finds it worth telling anybody about them.

For a while now, you’ve been able to create views, to get your data out of ScraperWiki just how you want, in Python, Ruby and PHP.

Julian has added a new option for HTML.

This is useful because you can write quite complex visualisations in pure HTML and Javascript, calling the ScraperWiki external API directly to get the data.

Because this view doesn’t have to execute any script code, it runs very fast in the preview inside the editor – instantly loading in your browser.

By way of example, here’s a tabular view of latest UK party political donations done just in Javascript.

The simple things can be the most useful!
